Getting To Know Our Toddlers' and Twos' Rooms
At Shepherd's Way we believe that toddlers and two year olds need an environment in which they can explore. A place that offers them the challenges they need to thrive, while giving them necessary protection. We understand that these children are moving into a sense of self and need caregivers who can enjoy this special time with them. That's why at Shepherd's Way your child will have many opportunities to make choices and develop competencies.
We know how important it is for your child's environment to be just their size. We have designed our rooms so that all the furniture and fittings are within their reach, so that they feel a sense of control over their environment and in-turn their confidence grows.
Many educational and fun opportunities will be available to your child, including musical experiences, individualized art, and a variety of toys and interesting materials. Everyday at Shepherd's Way your child will have the opportunity to play outside in a specially designed area. Our outdoor and indoor environments offer your child the types of experiences they need to grow physically, cognitively, and socio-emotionally. It includes sand and water play, a challenging, safe play structure, outdoor art opportunities, and fun, interactive materials for dramatic play.
One of our most important components is our intergenerational approach to care. Residents of The Presbyterian Homes at River Landing and children will have daily opportunities to interact, play, and develop meaningful friendships. Volunteers will often be available to read a story, sing a song, or simply share a smile or give a hug.
Shepherd's Way has technology that allows you to view your child any time of the day by logging on to our web site. You will be able to view live, real-time footage of your child's day! Even grandparents from far away can feel in touch with their grandchildren any time they like.
In our toddlers' and twos' rooms, and in every room in our center, we have a parents are always welcome policy. We encourage you to come and visit your child any time of the day. In fact, we feel that it's important for you to come spend time in your child's environment. When your child senses that you feel good about where they spend their day, they feel more safe and secure.
