Getting To Know Our Preschool Program

At Shepherd's Way we believe that preschoolers need an environment that is filled with rich opportunities and new experiences, with teachers who love them and nurture their growing independence.  We understand that your child is learning to initiate their own activities, to enjoy their accomplishments, and to become purposeful.  That 's why at Shepherd's Way we embrace a child-centered environment.  Children learn best when they are surrounded by choices, experiences, and materials that are meaningful to them.

Pre-reading, writing, math, and other necessary skills can be gained in fun, age-appropriate ways.  We are committed to helping you make sure that your child enters school ready to succeed.  That 's why we have instituted a School Readiness Program, a program developed for children who will be entering school next year.  We gather information from kindergarten teachers, parents, and other qualified educators to provide a framework for our School Readiness Program.  Our goal is for your child to reach his fullest potential.

We believe it's crucial that we teach our children respect, build character, and instill Christian values.  Our Christian curriculum has been designed specifically for us, and uniquely combines just enough structure and versatility to promote a healthy learning experience for preschoolers.

Our outdoor environment is an exciting learning experience all of it's own.  We have included a challenging, safe play structure, opportunities for outdoor art, sand and water play, dramatic play, garden spots, and by popular demand-a trike track!

Shepherd's Way has technology that allows you to view your child any time of the day by logging on to our web site.  You will be able to view live, real-time footage of your child's day!  Even grandparents from far away can feel in touch with their grandchildren any time they like.

One of our most important components is our intergenerational approach to care.  Residents of Cross Road Retirement Center and children will have daily opportunities to interact, play, and develop meaningful friendships.  Volunteers will often be available to read a story, lead a walk on the nature trail, give helpful tips on gardening, or simply share a smile or give a hug.

In our preschool rooms, and in every room in our center, we have a parents are always welcome policy.  We encourage you to come and visit your child any time of the day.  In fact, we feel that it's important for you to come spend time in your child's environment.  When your child senses that you feel good about where they spend their day, they feel more safe and secure.
